4MW Class MWM 2032 Gas Generator Station Project in Kazakhstan

4MW Class MWM 2032 Gas Generator Station Project in Kazakhstan

PAUWAY supplied and put into operation a total of 8 units of MWM 2032 series 4MW-class gas generator sets in Kazakhstan, forming a large-scale distributed gas-fired power station. The project takes local natural gas and associated gas as fuel for long-term base-load power generation, serving as the core self-owned power supply for energy chemical parks and industrial zones.

Project Background & Tender Award

Kazakhstan is rich in oil and gas resources, while the coverage and stability of the external power grid in remote industrial areas are limited. Large industrial and chemical projects require continuous and low-cost power support. Adopting MWM classic 2032 gas engine units for on-site power generation can effectively consume surplus associated gas from oil and gas fields, reduce waste of energy resources, and cut long-term power purchase costs of enterprises. PAUWAY provides complete machine integration, parallel control system and whole-station technical support for this batch of 4MW-level units.

Core Technology & Equipment Configuration

Generating Units

The power station is equipped with 8 sets of MWM 2032 gas generator sets with single unit power up to 4MW. Relying on the mature lean-burn combustion technology of MWM 2032 series engine, PAUWAY completes overall assembly, intelligent control cabinet matching, gas pretreatment system docking and grid-connected protection configuration. Eight units are connected in parallel to form a centralized power supply system, which can dynamically adjust the number of operating units according to the peak and valley changes of industrial load.

Project Positioning

Large parallel grid-connected gas power station for energy and chemical industrial zone, undertaking the basic load power demand of the whole park, with functions of on-grid power surplus and peak shaving for public power grid.

Equipment Features

  • Adopts internationally renowned MWM 2032 series gas engine, mature technology and ultra-long service life for continuous base-load operation
  • Single unit 4MW high power grade, high power generation efficiency and low gas consumption per kilowatt-hour
  • 8 units group parallel control, automatic load distribution, fault unit online isolation and protection
  • Strong adaptability to fluctuating natural gas pressure and component content in oilfield associated gas
  • Cold start preheating and anti-freezing structure customized to adapt to Kazakhstan’s severe cold continental climate
  • Centralized remote monitoring system supports unattended operation and online fault diagnosis

Project Significance & Challenges

Project Value

The 8-unit gas power station realizes resource recycling of oilfield associated gas, greatly reduces the enterprise’s external power purchase expenditure, ensures the stable operation of the industrial chemical production line, and builds a benchmark project for large-scale MWM gas power generation equipment of PAUWAY in Central Asia energy industry.

Execution Challenges

Complete gas composition debugging and grid-connected parameter setting for the whole station; finish bulk equipment export and cross-border transportation; realize multi-machine parallel linkage debugging and docking with the park energy management system; upgrade unit antifreeze, heat preservation and dust prevention measures to cope with large temperature difference and sandstorm weather in Central Asia.
