Pauway Story:Backup Generator for Telecom Base Stations in the Philippines

Backup generator for Telecom Base Stations in the Philippines

Dozens of PWC series silent diesel generator sets from PAUWAY have been deployed for telecom base stations across the Philippines. The power range covers 20KW to 300KW, with electrical specifications of 60Hz, including three-phase 480V and single-phase 240V versions, specially customized with soundproof canopy structure.

Project Background & Tender Award

Telecom base stations require uninterrupted power supply to guarantee signal coverage and communication stability. The Philippines often suffers from grid outages caused by typhoons and extreme weather. Base stations are widely distributed in urban communities, mountainous areas and coastal regions, demanding low-noise equipment, wide power selection and multiple voltage forms to match different communication equipment loads.

Core Technology & Equipment Configuration

Generating Units

The project adopts large quantities of PWC series silent generator sets ranging from 20KW to 300KW. All units adopt 60Hz frequency standard in line with local power grid, providing two output options: three-phase 480V and single-phase 240V, which can flexibly adapt to power access requirements of various types of communication main equipment, battery cabinets and monitoring systems at different base station sites.

Project Positioning

Distributed emergency backup power source for communication network base stations. When the municipal power grid is interrupted, it automatically takes over power supply to prevent signal disconnection and communication breakdown caused by power failure.

Equipment Features

  • Complete power range of 20KW~300KW to meet load differences of urban and remote base stations
  • 60Hz system, optional three-phase 480V / single-phase 240V output, matching Philippine electrical standards
  • Integrated silent soundproof canopy, effectively reducing noise pollution for residential surrounding stations
  • Strong moisture-proof and anti-corrosion capability to resist coastal salt fog and tropical rainy climate
  • Support automatic start and ATS linkage, realizing unattended hot standby operation

Project Significance & Challenges

Project Value

Mass deployment of silent backup generators greatly improves the anti-interference ability of the Philippine communication network against power faults and natural disasters, ensures continuous stability of national wireless communication services, and establishes long-term cooperative trust with local telecom operators.

Execution Challenges

Carried out targeted parameter customization for dual voltage and single/three-phase switching; optimized silencing structure to meet urban noise limit regulations; enhanced salt spray and rainproof protection to adapt to frequent typhoon and humid coastal environment in the Philippines.
