Pauway Story:Backup Power Project for Residential Complex in Sri Lanka

Backup Power Project for Residential Complex in

Sri Lanka

The social housing project in Sri Lanka adopted PAUWAY diesel generator sets as residential emergency backup power, including 10 units of PWC200S (PRP 160KW, 400V, 50Hz) and 5 units of PWC350S (PRP 250KW, 400V, 50Hz), providing uninterrupted power supply for public lighting, water supply pumps, elevators and fire safety systems within the residential community.

Project Background & Tender Award

Residential complexes require stable emergency power to guarantee daily living and public safety. Frequent grid fluctuations and blackouts in local areas may cause failures of elevators, water supply and fire control equipment. Matched generator sets of different power ratings can satisfy differentiated power loads of residential blocks and shared public facilities.

Core Technology & Equipment Configuration

Generating Units

Two models of PWC series units are deployed for the project: 10 sets PWC200S with prime power 160KW, rated voltage 400V, frequency 50Hz; another 5 sets PWC350S with prime power 250KW, 400V, 50Hz. All units conform to Sri Lanka local 50Hz power grid standards to meet the backup power demand of multiple residential buildings and supporting public facilities.

Project Positioning

Classified emergency backup power system for large residential community, independently supplying power to different residential blocks, elevators, water pumps, fire alarm and public lighting systems during mains power failure.

Equipment Features

  • Two power specifications to match load differences of scattered residential buildings
  • Standard 400V 50Hz output, perfectly compatible with local power grid specifications
  • Low vibration and low noise design, suitable for long-term hot standby operation in residential areas
  • Good heat and moisture resistance, adaptable to tropical climate in Sri Lanka

Project Significance & Challenges

Project Value

Hierarchical backup power supply eliminates the impact of municipal power outages on residents’ daily life, guarantees the normal operation of safety equipment, and improves the living safety and comfort of the whole residential complex.

Execution Challenges

Completed batch delivery and classified installation of two power models, realized independent ATS automatic switching control for each unit, and optimized noise reduction and ventilation structure to meet residential environmental requirements.
