Pauway Story:Power Supply Project for Iron Ore Mine in Australia

Power Supply Project for Iron Ore Mine in Australia

An iron ore mining customer in Australia adopted multiple models of PAUWAY generator sets including PWS2250CL+, PWS2500CL+, PWM1250C and PWM1100MVS. The product lineup covers a power range from 500KW to 1800KW with output voltage ranging from 400V to 10.5KV, forming a complete distributed power supply system for open-pit mining, ore processing and auxiliary supporting facilities.

Project Background & Tender Award

Large open-pit iron ore mines feature wide operation areas, scattered working faces and diverse load types. Low-voltage units serve on-site mobile machinery and daily auxiliary power consumption, while high-voltage generator sets realize long-distance power transmission for concentrators and fixed large-scale production equipment. Strict standards on equipment durability, dust resistance and continuous operation are required to adapt to harsh open-air mining conditions.

Core Technology & Equipment Configuration

Generating Units

The project deploys mixed models of PWS series large power units and PWM series standard units: PWS2250CL+, PWS2500CL+, PWM1250C, PWM1100MVS. The power spectrum spans 500KW to 1800KW, supporting both 400V low-voltage direct power supply and 10.5KV high-voltage centralized power supply, which can be flexibly matched to long-distance power distribution and nearby equipment power supply demands of the mining area.

Project Positioning

Integrated low & high voltage distributed power station for large iron ore mine, supplying power to excavation equipment, ore crushing & screening workshops, dewatering systems, drainage pumps and site living guarantee systems in phases and zones.

Equipment Features

  • Full power coverage 500KW–1800KW, voltage system of 400V low voltage or 10.5KV high voltage
  • Multiple unit models support parallel connection and group control to expand power capacity on demand
  • Reinforced dustproof, shockproof and anti-corrosion structure adapting to open-pit mining dusty and bumpy environment
  • Compliant with Australian local electrical safety certification and mine environmental access standards

Project Significance & Challenges

Project Value

The mixed high-low voltage power solution realizes zoned power supply for the whole mining area, effectively reducing line loss during long-distance power transmission, ensuring continuous operation of core mineral processing production lines, and demonstrating PAUWAY’s comprehensive customized supporting capability for large overseas mineral projects.

Execution Challenges

Completed high-voltage system insulation test and parameter setting, passed Australian mining industry safety and electrical certification, realized multi-machine group parallel control debugging, and strengthened unit protection to resist strong wind, sand and high temperature open-pit working conditions.
