Pauway Story:PWC Diesel generator for Cement Plant in Zambia

PWC Diesel generator for Cement Plant in Zambia

PAUWAY supplied 3 units of PWC825S and 1 unit of PWC1250 diesel generator sets to a cement plant in Zambia, serving as emergency backup power for clinker production lines, raw material crushing equipment and factory-wide key safety loads to avoid major production losses caused by sudden mains power failure.

Project Background & Tender Award

Cement production features continuous high-load operation. Once the external power grid is cut off unexpectedly, kiln system, grinding equipment and dust removal facilities cannot stop safely, which may lead to equipment damage, raw material waste and long-term production shutdown. Reliable multi-unit backup power system is a necessary safety guarantee for cement enterprises to maintain stable operation.

Core Technology & Equipment Configuration

Generating Units

The project is equipped with 3 sets of PWC825S and one set of PWC1250 diesel generator sets. Multiple units can work in coordination and mutual backup, with flexible load allocation to bear the power demand of main production line and auxiliary supporting facilities respectively, forming a redundant power supply structure to improve the overall power supply stability of the plant.

Project Positioning

Multi-machine redundant emergency backup power station for cement production base, realizing safe shutdown of rotary kiln, raw mill, exhaust fan and environmental protection equipment when external power fails, and supporting quick restart of production after power recovery.

Equipment Features

  • Mixed configuration of two models, reasonable power matching to cover full plant key load demands
  • Support parallel operation and ATS automatic switching, realizing unattended hot standby operation
  • Enhanced dustproof and anti-clogging air intake design adapting to high-dust environment inside cement plant
  • Optimized heat dissipation system to cope with tropical high temperature climate in Zambia

Project Significance & Challenges

Project Value

The combined generator set solution builds a complete power safety barrier for the cement production line, effectively preventing equipment damage and economic losses caused by grid outages, and ensuring the sustainable and stable operation of the cement project in Zambia.

Execution Challenges

Completed cross-border transportation and on-site installation, finished multi-unit parallel linkage debugging with the factory power distribution system, and upgraded the air filtration and protection structure to resist heavy cement dust pollution on site.
