Temporary Power Supply Project for Upper Atbara Hydraulic Complex, Sudan
Temporary Power Supply Project for Upper Atbara Hydraulic Complex, Sudan
PAUWAY supplied a total of 19 units of PWM1250 and PWM1100 diesel generator sets for the Upper Atbara Hydraulic Complex in Sudan, which serve as the dedicated temporary power source throughout the whole construction period of the key water conservancy project.
Project Background & Tender Award
The Upper Atbara Hydraulic Complex is a landmark large-scale water conservancy and hydropower project in eastern Sudan, undertaking flood control, irrigation, water storage and power generation functions. The construction site is far from urban power grid coverage, and massive heavy construction machinery, concrete mixing systems, drainage pumping equipment, on-site office and living facilities require large-capacity stable temporary power supply. Centralized multi-unit generator groups become the core power guarantee for the smooth progress of dam foundation excavation, dam body pouring and auxiliary works.
Core Technology & Equipment Configuration
Generating Units
The project adopts 19 units mixed with PWM1250 and PWM1100 models. Multiple units can be combined for parallel grid-connected operation to form a centralized temporary power station, which can adjust the number of online units dynamically according to the construction load peak and valley changes, effectively improving power supply efficiency and reducing fuel consumption during low-load periods.
Project Positioning
Centralized parallel temporary power station for large hydraulic project construction, providing uninterrupted power for earth-rock excavation, concrete construction, drainage, monitoring and camp supporting systems in the construction area.
Equipment Features
- Two mainstream large-power models are reasonably matched to meet the overall power demand of the large construction site
- Support multi-machine group parallel control and automatic load distribution, realizing intelligent joint power supply
- Enhanced heat dissipation and dustproof design, adapting to Sudan’s arid, high-temperature and windy sand environment
- Strong overload resistance and continuous operation capability, suitable for long-term 24-hour non-stop construction power consumption
Project Significance & Challenges
Project Value
The 19 sets of generator sets build a stable and reliable temporary power system for the Upper Atbara Hydraulic Complex, strongly supporting the phased construction tasks of the dam project, and demonstrating PAUWAY’s strong delivery and system integration ability in super-large overseas water conservancy projects.
Execution Challenges
Completed batch production, container packaging and international maritime transportation; finished on-site multi-unit parallel debugging and linkage with the project power distribution system; optimized air intake filtration and cooling system to resist local sandstorm and extreme high temperature working conditions.
